Who this is for:
Customers who registered their domain elsewhere and want to use it with SVR4U hosting.
Overview:
To make your website and email work with SVR4U hosting, your domain must point to the correct nameservers or DNS records.
Option 1: Change nameservers
This is the simplest method.
Steps:
-
Log in to your domain registrar account.
-
Locate your domain management section.
-
Find the nameserver settings.
-
Replace the existing nameservers with the nameservers provided in your SVR4U welcome email.
-
Save the changes.
Option 2: Use custom DNS records
If you do not want to change nameservers, you can manually set:
-
A record for the website
-
MX records for email
-
other records as required
Propagation time:
DNS changes may take up to 24 to 48 hours globally, although many updates happen much sooner.
How to verify it worked:
-
your domain loads your website
-
email starts routing correctly
-
DNS lookup tools show the updated records
Common mistakes:
-
typo in nameservers
-
forgetting to remove old records
-
expecting instant results
-
website works but email records are missing
When to contact support:
Contact support if you are unsure which records to use or your domain still does not resolve after propagation.
